Listening

     Listening is an active skill :  this fact has to be first realized to learn more about listening. Listening is the key skill to enhance the other language skills. Listening skill has the potential to mould anyone as master of the language.

 

    “Listen in such a way that others love to speak to you.” The speaker is motivated to speak only when the listener listens more actively. The motivated speaker will be more cautious to deliver the ideas in the perfect language. The motivation leads to deliver more information in a more attractive way. So the active listening has a very strong effect on speaker. It is not the speaker who has to speak with interest, but the interest of the speaker is wholly decided by the listener by being more active in listening.  It’s not just keeping your ears open means listening but active listening involves the following :

1. Contacting through eye with the speaker

2. Responding to the speech

     2.1. Facial expression

     2.2. Nodding or shaking the head

     2.3. Comments or feedback

     2.4. Questions to get clarified

     2.5. Posture of listening

3. Observing the speakers

      (Gesture, pronunciation, usage of words, accent, rhythm, etc.,)

4. Grasping every information delivered by the speaker (understanding)

       (Whether it is useful or not)

5. Making the mind/brain to start analyzing the receiving information.

       5.1. Getting involved/interested into the topic that is being spoken.
